Whilst nervously waiting for news over whether racing will resume in the UK at the start of next week, Ahead On The Flat was amongst the winners at Clairefontaine on Thursday. The once raced Bengal Bay was featured in William Haggas' stable interview on page 84 of AOTF and he spoken favourably about the gelded son of Cable Bay. Beaten less than three lengths on his debut at Ascot last Autumn, he was viewed as a potential Britannia Stakes horse by the Somerville Lodge team, prior to his transfer to the yard of Fabrice Chappet in France. Overcoming a wide draw, the well supported three year old (10/1 into 5/1) stayed on dourly to prevail by a neck.
In other news concerning AOTF, I can report that the horse featured on page 14 has undergone a wind operation since his last run. He holds an entry on Tuesday next week.
