The Tim Easterby trained juvenile Lampang has the distinction of featuring in three of the Mark Howard Publications Updates this year even though I have only produce two for the current Flat season. As regular readers will be aware, I spoke to Tim at Wetherby in March and he told me that he felt the son of Dandy Man was well above average and he was due to make his racecourse debut at Leicester during the Aintree Grand National meeting. Unfortunately, the King Power Racing owned colt suffered a setback - he had curbs - and therefore his career was put on hold. Entered in the valuable sales race at York last week, Lampang finally made his first racecourse appearance over six furlongs at Carlisle on Thursday and it was well worth the wait. Despite being slowly away and meeting trouble in running, David Allan's mount quickened up smartly to win going away by a length. Tim later told me at York's Dante meeting that he was convinced Lampang would have been a Royal Ascot juvenile had he not incurred his hiccup in the spring. Bred to stay further - his dam was placed over twelve furlongs - it will be interesting to see where he goes next and over what trip but he certainly didn't look slow at the Cumbrian track. Thank you very much to all those clients who have emailed since - it is fair to say I wasn't the only one waiting for him to run. Your support is much appreciated.
Weather permitting, I am heading to Hamilton on Friday evening for a seven race card which features the Lanark Silver Bell. There is a lot of rain forecast tomorrow afternoon so I am expecting testing conditions at the Scottish track. Then, I will continue to work on One Jump Ahead over the weekend and next week - I am hoping to make an exciting announcement with regard to the French Revolution section in OJA. More on that, next week. Enjoy the weekend.
