Progressive four year old Ajman Bridge made it two out of two this season with a decisive win in the ten furlongs handicap at Epsom on Oaks day. Roger Varian's charge had won the City And Suburban Handicap over the same course and distance at the end of April a five pounds rise in comprehensive fashion. In fact, the son of Lope De Vegas was gaining his third win from as many starts at the Surrey track and it will be interesting to see if he is steered towards the Listed Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot later this month. He is a fast improving four year old who looks capable of mixing it at Pattern level.
Pilaster is a stablemate of Ajman Bridge and she justified her inclusion in the Maidens In Waiting section of Ahead On The Flat when scoring on her reappearance at Chelmsford on Thursday evening. The well bred daughter of Nathaniel had shaped with plenty of promise on her sole outing at Doncaster last backend. Stepping up to ten furlongs at the Essex track, she stayed on well under David Egan before registering a two lengths win at the rewarding odds of 12/1. Twelve furlongs ought to be within her stamina range.
