Philip Hobbs makes it clear on page 86 of One Jump Ahead that he thinks Resolution Bay is a useful sort and the four year old looked just that when taking the two mile one novice hurdle at Exeter. Disappointing in a Chepstow bumper in the spring, the gelded son of Presenting seemingly appreciated the better ground and was value for more than the winning margin of four lengths. His victory continued the tremendous run of owners Diana and Grahame Whateley. It will be a surprise if he can't defy a penalty. A lovely looking individual, Resolution Bay is one for both the long and short term.
Switching codes, Mazzini finally showed what he can do with a bloodless victory in the six furlongs handicap at Kempton this evening. Held up in a strongly run race, he was partnered by George Baker and the three year old proved a class above the opposition to win going away by a couple of lengths. I hope readers stayed loyal - he will be even better next year.
