The interview with Sandy Thomson in the Christmas Special has proved a real moneyspinner for clients with the Scottish based handler continuing in tremendous form. Donna's Double and Storm Nelson provided the yard with another couple of winners at Ayr on Monday. The former underwent wind surgery after his chasing bow at Hexham in November and, having missed an engagement at Kelso a few days ago, the seven year old was rerouted to the two and a half miles novices' handicap chase off a mark of 117. Leading at the second last, he was kept up to his work to score by three and a quarter lengths. The novices' handicap chase over three miles one at Ayr's Scottish National meeting in April is his ultimate target this term.
Stablemate Storm Nelson was beaten half a dozen lengths by Wakool in the three miles handicap hurdle twelve months ago. However, the ten year old gained his revenge this time around by beating his old rival by the same margin. Making all the running, he followed up his victory at Carlisle last time in convincing fashion off 128. The interview with Thomson has now produced 6 winners, namely Blue Baloo (10/1), Carcaci Castle (7/4), War Soldier (2/1), Benson (2/1), Donna's Double (100/30) and Storm Nelson (6/5).
