Top 40 Prospects entry Moshaawer (9/4) made it two wins from as many starts at Doncaster on Friday. The grey son of Frankel had made heavy weather of winning on his belated reappearance at Kempton last month. However, despite shouldering a penalty in the twelve furlongs novice stakes on Town Moor, Dane O'Neill's mount produced an improved performance to win readily from Valley Forge by a length and a quarter with the pair clear. A well bred colt, Roger Varian and Shadwell Estates will be making some smart entries as a result of this latest success and it wouldn't be a surprise if he is considered for something like the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood later this month (29th July) or the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York (18th August). A strong stayer with a high cruising speed, he is not unrealistic to think his connections will be considering giving him an entry in the St Leger in September.
I am heading to Haydock Park this evening before travelling north to Carlisle on Saturday night - both for Racing TV - and then rounding off a busy few days at Ayr on Monday. I have been cracking on with the research for One Jump Ahead, too. It is fair to say I have unearth some very exciting prospects who will be plying their trade with some of the leading trainers on either side of the Irish Sea this winter. There is still plenty to play for on the Flat this summer and beyond but I can't wait for the National Hunt season to engage top gear in the Autumn.
