It is fair to say good fortune was been in short supply for Nicky Richards during the Festive period. The Cumbrian handler sent out 15 runners between Boxing Day and Monday this week with zero return, plus his star novice chaser Crystal Glory is now sidelined having pulled up lame at Haydock Park last Friday. Thankfully, the stable were back amongst the winners when Florida Dreams came home strongly to take the bumper at Musselburgh on Tuesday. Nicky was complimentary about the Doyen gelding on page 120 of One Jump Ahead saying: "Acquired as a three year old at the Goffs Landrover Sale, he is another nice youngster who showed ability in his work last spring. Given time after a few of the bumper horses got ringworm, he has pleased me and is a grand horse." Sent off 11/1, the five year old was patiently ridden before showing a good turn of foot inside the final furlong. A two and a half lengths winner, he stayed on strongly to beat the well touted Act of Authority to win going away. Likely to be kept to bumpers for the remainder of this season, he is a nice prospect for novice hurdles in the Autumn.
