ValueRacingClub.co.uk acquired a new horse last month when paying £22,000 for the twice raced Aldrin. A four year old by New Approach, he finished fourth and third in maidens at Doncaster and Epsom respectively last season when trained by Charlie Appleby. The former Godolphin owned colt is now in training with David Pipe - he becomes VRC's first horse at Pond House - and will be gelded shortly. Acquired at the Goffs Sales at Doncaster, Aldrin has yet to race beyond ten furlongs and, while he has been bought essentially as a future jumper, he could also continue on the Flat. An unexposed horse with plenty of potential, there are still five shares available. If anyone wishes to get involved, please contact manager James Couldwell via contact@valueracingclub.co.uk
I am heading to Musselburgh on Sunday for the second of their two days 'trials' meeting. It promises to be an excellent days racing. More immediately, I am very hopeful about the horse featured at the top of page 50 of One Jump Ahead. He contests a competitive handicap tomorrow but still looks well handicapped and I will be surprised if we have seen the best of him. As far as the opposition is concerned, I am told the Nigel Twiston-Davies trained runner is strongly fancied. However, I am staying loyal to the OJA representative.
I will be back to update the Diary early next week. There is still time to order a copy of the February Update. Please go to the Publications section of the site to do so.
