There were another couple of winners for the Talking Trainers section in One Jump Ahead at Bangor On Dee on Wednesday. Having finished runner-up twice at the North Wales venue during the summer, Val Mome (2/1) got off the mark over hurdles at the fourth attempt. Donald McCain's Turgeon gelding looked set to prevail comfortably after the last but was all out to hang on by a short head.
Beau Sancy (5/4) was bought out of Kenny Johnson's stable for £12,500 at the Doncaster May Sales and joined Olly Murphy. Having his first start for his new connections off a mark of 88 in the two and a half miles handicap chase, the six year old had undergone a wind operation during the summer. Well backed beforehand, he travelled well and wasn't hard pressed to beat Show's Over by three and a quarter lengths. A thirteen race maiden when joining his current yard, I will be surprised if he can't win more races.
In other news, Irish expert Declan Phelan emailed me last evening regarding a couple of French horses who have been purchased by J.P.McManus. I will pass on news of the pair in the first One Jump Ahead Update next month. I was also informed today that the horse featured on page 34 of OJA, who is also owned by the legendary Irish owner, is being aimed at the Listed Wensleydale Hurdle at Wetherby in early November.
Thank you once again to all those clients who have purchased One Jump Ahead - sales continue to go from strength to strength - your support is greatly appreciated.
