One For Arthur, who sadly passed away last month at the age of 14, provided Lucinda Russell with Grand National glory in 2017 and the Kinross based handler is responsible for another leading contender later this month with dual Cheltenham Festival winner Corach Rambler. The nine year old won the Ultima Handicap Chase at Prestbury Park in March for a second consecutive year and is ten pounds 'well in' compared to the future racing off his original mark of 146. Stable star Ahoy Senor is also due to return to Aintree next week with the Grade 1 Aintree Bowl Chase his target. Successful at the last two Grand National meetings, the dual Grade 1 winner was still going strongly when falling in the Cheltenham Gold Cup last time. The stable sent out 16 winners from 61 runners during March and 63 in total this season - only three short of a personal best campaign. I am therefore delighted to include an interview with Lucinda in the Aintree Grand National Update, which is due to be published in a week's time (11th April).

Talking of stable interviews, the Racing Post began their stable tour series for the 2023 Flat season this week and on Tuesday the focus switched to Roger Varian. Interestingly, their feature included 25 horses in training at Carlburg Stables, 10 of which were three year olds. In contrast, the Ahead On The Flat interview with Roger covers 65 horses, of which 33 are from the Classic generation.

Indeed, the number of horses covered in the Talking Trainers section of AOTF are as follows: Charlie Appleby (41 horses), Andrew Balding (67), Ralph Beckett (56), George Boughey (51), Karl Burke (30), Michael Dods (37), Tim Easterby (60), William Haggas (74) and Roger Varian (65).

Please head to the Publications section of the site to order your copy of Ahead On The Flat and Updates, and the Aintree Grand National Update, if you haven't already done so.
