Classic winning trainer George Boughey continues to impress and the former assistant to Hugo Palmer had another terrific few days over the weekend. Cadillac and Navello both won valuable handicaps at Epsom's Derby meeting with the latter gaining a last gasp victory in the Dash on Saturday. The young trainer then rounded off the weekend by taking a six furlongs Listed event at Chantilly on Saturday courtesy of Perdika. A four times winner on the all-weather last Autumn, the Unfortunately filly was placed in Listed contests at Bath and Newmarket in the spring before this well deserved win by a short neck under Bauyrzhan Murzabayev. The stable have now won half a dozen Pattern races in 2023, including Via Sistina's impressive win in the Group 2 Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket's Guineas meeting. Expect Boughey to send a strong team to Royal Ascot later this month.
Talking of the Royal meeting, I am currently working on the Ahead On The Flat Royal Ascot Update, which will be published on Sunday 18th June. If you haven't ordered your copy, please head to the Publications section of the site.
