The French Revolution section in One Jump Ahead has been particularly successful this season unearthing the likes of Blue Lord, Gaillard Du Mesnil, Gauloise, Monmiral, Nassalam and Quilixios.
The feature produced two more winners on Friday including Rambranlt'jac at Fairyhouse. Returning from an absence of 528 days and having his first run for Willie Mullins, the Masterstroke gelding made all the running in the opening two miles maiden hurdle to win comfortably by seven lengths. The five year old jumped well and readily pulled away on the approach to the final flight. This was only his second run over hurdles and his third career start and therefore should be open to plenty of improvement this spring.
Twenty minutes earlier at Newbury, Siroco Jo showed what he is capable of in the opening juvenile hurdle. The Hurricane Cat gelding, who had finished second on his only start over hurdles at Clairefontaine in August, disappointed on his British bow at Kempton over Christmas. Given a break (68 days) and the opportunity to race on better ground, the four year old proved a different proposition as he took control at the third last. Pushed clear by Harry Cobden, he is an interesting prospect for the weeks ahead for Paul Nicholls. One could see him going through the ranks and picking up a nice prize this spring.
I will be back to update the Diary at some stage over the weekend. In the meantime, I am continuing to work on Ahead On The Flat and the One Jump Ahead Cheltenham Festival Update.
I am delighted to announce ITV's frontman Ed Chamberlin will make a guest appearance in next week's Value Racing Club Cheltenham preview via zoom. If you haven't signed up, please email James Couldwell at contact@valueracingclub.co.uk.
