All orders for One Jump Ahead received by lunchtime on Wednesday have been sent out. Those received since will be posted on Thursday am.
It was announced on Wednesday that former RSA Chase winner Topofthegame has been retired. The ten year old hasn't been seen since finishing runner-up at Aintree in April 2019. A giant chestnut began his career with the Doyle's in Ireland winning his only point-to-point before being bought for £120,000 in 2016. The Flemensfirth gelding won twice over hurdles, including a Grade 3 handicap hurdle at Sandown before finishing a close second in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham in March 2018. Chasing was always going to bring out the best in him though and, while he only won once over fences, he beat Santini and Delta Work at the Festival the following year. Sadly, injury intervened and Paul Nicholls' horse, who was rated 165 over the larger obstacles, never got the opportunity to prove himself against the finest chasers on either side of the Irish Sea. Restricted to 12 career starts, Paul intended bringing him back this season in the Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham in January before having a crack at the Grand National. Hopefully he will enjoy a long retirement because he was a very talented horse and did followers of One Jump Ahead a big favour in March 2019.
It has been a productive few days for the Maidens In Waiting section in AOTF. Kirilenko (7/1) scored at Windsor on Monday and 48 hours later First Officer (8/1) made all and won on his first start for Jane Chapple-Hyam at Nottingham. Formerly trained by Roger Varian, the son of Galileo won the Bibury Cup at Salisbury in June before being sold for 68,000gns in late August. Dropped back to ten furlongs at Colwick Park, he was racing on soft ground for the first time and revelled in the conditions recording a six and a half lengths victory off a mark of 79. The handicapper will doubtless have a say but the three year old could be set for a productive few weeks before the season comes to a close.
One Evening (7/2) then made it three winners for the same section in as many days when taking the opening fillies' maiden at Kempton. John and Thady Gosden's three year old was returning from an absence of 348 days and making her belated seasonal reappearance. Stepping up to a mile and three, the Galileo filly travelled stylishly before quickening up inside the final furlong to win going away by a length and three quarters. She looks a smashing filly who will hopefully stay in training as a four year old.
