Regular readers of One Jump Ahead will be fully aware that Bromley's Best Buys has unearthed its fair share of future stars over the years. Anthony Bromley's article on pages 129 to 136 was responsible for a double at Warwick on Friday, namely In This World (11/10) and Blue Stello (3/1). While the latter needed the assistance of the stewards having been denied by a nose on his Rules debut in the two miles three novices' hurdle, there was no mistaking the authority with which the former scored on his British bow.
In This World had won over a mile and six on his only start on the Flat in France beating subsequent Down Royal juvenile hurdle winner Fil Dor by two and a half lengths in early June. Subsequently bought by Anthony, he joined Dan Skelton and looked a natural on his first run over timber. Given a patient ride by Harry Skelton, the Saints Des Saints gelding jumped superbly and travelled strongly throughout. Leading at the second last, he readily pulled away to register a six lengths win. It will be interesting to see where he heads next because he looks a potential top notcher. It is worth noting Allmankind (2019) and Adagio (2020) won the previous two runnings of the Warwick race - that pair went on to win the Grade 1 Finale Hurdle at Chepstow the following month.
Both In This World and Fil Dor feature in the French Revolution section of OJA, along with the J.P.McManus owned mare Trapista, who made a striking impression on her first run in the UK at Huntingdon last weekend.
Overall, it was another productive day for OJA with Blue Stello (3/1), Crystal Glory (3/1), Hamilton Dici (3/1) and In This World (11/10) all scoring on Friday, plus All For Glory (40/1) was placed.
I am working at Aintree on Saturday and it should be an informative afternoon with an interesting novice hurdle, novices' handicap chase and two and a half miles conditions hurdle. In addition, the Grand Sefton Handicap Chase over the National fences takes place along with a few other competitive handicaps and a junior bumper. I am looking forward to it, plus it is an opportunity to catch up with a few trainers. Any news gained during my visit, I shall pass on in the November Update, which is due to be emailed to clients next Thursday (11th November).
If you haven't ordered a copy of the Update (£8.00 or £40.00 for all five), please go to the Publications section of the site.
