Due to the prevailing dry spell, small fields were the order of the day once again at Exeter on Tuesday. Tom George's triple Grade 1 winner God's Own won the Haldon Gold Cup for the second time, four years after his first success in 2014. The ten year old wore down longtime leader Ozzie The Oscar close home to win by half a length with seven lengths back to the third. Grade 1 winner Diego Du Charmil could only finish fifth having travelled strongly. Paul Nicholls' gelding faded from the third last and it is hoped he needed the run. The rest of the card was dominated by Philip Hobbs who sent out a treble, including Crooks Peak in the two miles one novices' hurdle. A smart bumper performer last term, he still looks green and has plenty to learn.

I am currently working on the first One Jump Ahead Update, which concentrates on Cheltenham's November meeting. The plan is to email the Update to clients on Thursday week (15th November). I have included a detailed analysis of the recent Newmarket Horses In Training Sale which will hopefully unearth some promising youngsters who are set to go hurdling for the first time. The sale has produced some smart types over the years and I would expect this year's to be no different. I have contacted a number of bloodstock agents to find out the destination of many of the purchases - I am sure clients will find this informative.

I have also written French Revolution - Part II - which features some potentially exciting recruits from France who have joined leading British and Irish yards. Many of these have been purchased by the likes of J.P.McManus, Gigginstown House Stud, Simon Munir etc and could develop into household names in years to come.

If you haven't already ordered a copy of the Update - which is priced at £6 or £34 for all 5 Updates for the season - please head to the Publications section of the site.
