Owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, who have won the Triumph Hurdle twice courtesy of Soldatino (2010) and Peace And Co (2015), have another smart juvenile hurdle prospect on their hands in Adjali, if his UK debut at Market Rasen on Thursday is anything to go by. The Kamsin gelding arrived from France with a high level of form when under the guidance of Guillaume Macaire and he put his experience to good use at the Lincolnshire track. Making virtually all, Daryl Jacob's mount readily pulled clear to win by thirteen lengths. His nearest market rival King D'Argent, who had finished third in the Listed Wensleydale Hurdle at Wetherby last time, is unlikely to have troubled Adjali in any case, but he was set an impossible task by his rider - sat last down the backstraight and at least ten lengths behind the winner at one stage. Featured in the Top 40 Prospects, Adjali looks Triumph Hurdle material and it would be no surprise to see him head to Chepstow for the Grade 1 Finale Hurdle - the same connections won the race last season with We Have A Dream.
Overall, it was another good day for One Jump Ahead with other winners including Chez Hans (6/1), Danse Idol (13/8), Reikers Island (5/1), Rhythm Is A Dancer (6/1) and Western Honour (2/1). The last named was given a terrific ride by Jamie Codd in the two and a half miles maiden hurdle at Clonmel. Featured on page 20 of OJA, Western Honour joined Gordon Elliott during the summer and, having finished runner-up twice, the six year old appreciated the step up in distance. Sticking to the inside until the leaders turned for home, Codd comprehensively outrode Patrick Mullins on the runner-up. The winning margin was only half a length and Codd was the difference. Having partnered Envoi Allen, Malone Road and now Western Honour to success, the crack amateur boasts a tremendous strike-rate when sporting the red, white and blue silks of Cheveley Park Stud.
