The headline act on Tuesday was Cheltenham Festival runner-up Gaelic Warrior who destroyed his nine opponents in the maiden hurdle which began the card at Tramore. The two miles event has been won by talented mares Laurina (2017) and Dolcita (2019) in recent times and the ex-French gelding justified prohibitive odds in spectacular fashion. Admittedly, the opposition didn't amount to much but the runner-up had been beaten only eight lengths by the useful Deeply Superficial at Galway last time. Paul Townend's mount led at the fifth hurdle before quickly establishing a sizeable advantage. The son of Maxios jumped fluently and sauntered away to register an 86 lengths victory. Graded company is likely to be next and it will be interesting to see if he remains over the minimum trip or steps up in distance - he has got Ballymore or Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdles written all over him and is another exciting prospect for the Top 40 Prospects.
The Skelton stable continue in splendid form with two more winners at Uttoxeter. Missed Tee (3/1) is included in Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers section and the daughter of Fame And Glory stepped forward from her Rules debut at Ffos Las in November when staying on well to take the first division of the maiden hurdle at the Midlands venue. A three parts of a length winner, she should have no trouble staying further in time.
Olly Murphy has assembled a decent team of novice hurdlers and Clonakilty looked above average when taking the second division. Bought for £62,000 over a year ago having finished second in an Irish point for Sam Curling, he shaped well for a long way at Chepstow on his hurdles bow last month until tiring late on. Well supported, he took charge at the third last and bounded away for a four and a half lengths victory. It will be interesting to see what rating he acquires as a result because he looks the sort who will be suited by a well run handicap.
