The horse featured on page 37 of Ahead On The Flat made a highly promising reappearance on Bank Holiday Monday. Looking ill at ease on the course during the early stages, he covered plenty of ground in the homestraight with his rider switching from one side of the track to the other. He finished strongly and was on the heels of the leaders at the death. Bred to improve when stepped up in trip, he looks useful and is most definitely one to follow this summer.
Van Beethoven, who is featured on page 129 of AOTF, confirmed the promise he showed on his debut at Newmarket's Craven meeting by winning in impressive fashion at Naas. Tackling six furlongs, the son of Scat Daddy was much more streetwise on this occasion and found plenty when asked for his effort by Ryan Moore. Aidan O'Brien suggested afterwards the colt will have one more run before heading to Royal Ascot for the Norfolk or Coventry Stakes. He looks smart.
Hugo Palmer's interview continues to churm out the winner. Gifted Master (8/1) produced a terrific front running performance to win at Newmarket on Sunday and the Newmarket based handler won both divisions of the one mile novice stakes at Windsor on Monday courtesy of Employer (15/8) and Silver Quartz (10/11). To complete a fine day, Expensive Liaison (5/4) prevailed at Beverley.
