Hot on the heels of Kadar's winning debut at Haydock yesterday, Prince Eiji (4/1) did likewise at Ascot on Friday. Highlighted as an unraced two year old to follow in the York Ebor Update, Roger Varian's impeccably bred colt scored by half a length at the Berkshire venue. A son of Dubawi out of Izzi Top, he was bought for 2,600,000gns last Autumn. A half-brother to Dreamfield and stablemate Willie John, he holds entries in the Royal Lodge and Dewhurst Stakes.
And, to round off a cracking couple of days, Dandhu (4/1), who was also featured as a juvenile to follow in last month's Update, won the seven furlongs fillies' conditions stakes at Kempton this evening. The daughter of Dandy Man had shaped with plenty of promise in two starts at Newmarket and she quickened up smartly inside the final furlong to win by nearly three lengths. David Elsworth has a nice filly on his hands. Given her trainer, it would be no surprise to see her tried in Pattern company before the end of the year. Don't forget to order the Autumn Update, which will be published later this month - there will be previews of the Autumn double, namely the Cambridgeshire & Cesarewitch, plus the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe.
I took One Jump Ahead to the printers today - there are 730 horses covered over 172 pages. I will keep clients informed re the publishing date.
