Kim Bailey has enjoyed a resurgence during the last couple of years sending out 51 winners last term, including four Grade 2 events. The Cheltenham Gold Cup, Champion Hurdle and Grand National winning handler is blessed with a fine team of youngsters for the winter ahead. Shantou Express was the only four year old bumper horse he ran last term finishing a promising second at Ludlow in March, in a race which has worked out well. Returning to action at Stratford on Monday, the Shantou gelding made no mistake with a nine lengths win. Partnered by Ned Curtis, he was always going well and readily swept passed Witness Protection in the home straight before stretching away for an easy success. In all likelihood, Shantou Express will go hurdling now and is a horse with a bright future.
