Having been left frustrated by the performances of Top 40 entrants Sam Barton and Kyntara at Southwell on Monday afternoon, it was nice to go to the Coniston Hotel near Skipton for their Cheltenham preview night. On a panel alongside champion elect Brian Hughes, Harry Bannister, Michael Shinners and Charlie Mann, it was an enjoyable evening in a luxurious hotel which is expertly run by the Bannister family. It is well worth a visit and highly recommended. Charlie was in fine form explaining that is now riding out twice a week for Nicky Henderson in Lambourn, along with buying and selling a few horses. Brian is always excellent company and it was interesting to hear his views on some of the horses he has been riding in recent weeks.

The preview night roadshow rolls on to Doncaster on Wednesday, which is sponsored by Sky Bet. Ed Chamberlin will host along with his ITV colleague Oli Bell, plus Michael Shinners and David Ord of sportinglife.com. There is also an interview with Patrick Mullins, who is an ambassador for sportinglife.com. It should be another cracking evening.

On Thursday, I am working at Carlisle for Racing TV and then to round off a busy week, it is the Value Racing Club preview night on Friday. Please book your place, if you haven't already done so via the ValueRacingClub.co.uk website.

I will pass on all the information I gather this week in the One Jump Ahead Cheltenham Update, which will be emailed to clients on Sunday pm. Thank you very much to those clients who have already purchased their copy, it is much appreciated. The response has been superb.
