Arecibo (7/1) was bought for €125,000 at the Arqana Arc Sale in October and, having disappointed on his first three starts for David O'Meara, the handicapped had dropped the four year old from an official rating of 100 to 91. Having his second run since being gelded, the son of Invincible Spirit reverted back to five furlongs for the first time since October at Ayr on Monday. Making headway with a furlong to run, he got the better of the in-form Harome to prevail by a neck. It is hoped this win will be the first of many for his new connections having been placed in Group 3 company in his native France. Arecibo is featured in the Significant Sales section of Ahead On The Flat.
Regular purchasers of AOTF will recall that Night of Thunder featured in the Top 40 Prospects in 2014 when the Richard Hannon trained colt won the 2000 Guineas under Kieren Fallon from Kingman and Australia belying odds of 40/1 in the process. The son of Dubawi has made a tremendous start to his stallion career in 2019 with 10 individual winners already. These include the Hannon trained pair Man of The Night and Wild Thunder, plus Under The Stars who made a winning start to his career on her debut for James Tate on Monday evening at Ripon. The trio look above average and Night of Thunder's progeny are well worth a second look.
