Zarak The Brave created a favourable impression on his hurdles debut at Fairyhouse pulling away after the last to win by ten lengths. Trained in France by Stephane Wattel, he won on the Flat before being bought for €200,000 in May. The Zarak gelding warmed to his task jumping wise before making good headway before the hometurn. Paul Townend's mount came with a strong run on the outside before powering away. It is possible he will return to the same track for the Grade 3 juvenile hurdle (4th December). Bestaline (33/1) is featured in the French Revolution section of One Jump Ahead and Gordon Elliott's stepped up markedly on her hurdles debut at Punchestown last month. The Martaline filly's jumping was much improved and she attempt to stretch her rivals from halfway. Even though she couldn't cope with Zarak The Brave's turn of foot, she kept on in third and rewarded each-way backers. On this evidence, she will win races. Her jumping was a revelation compared to first time out.
Value Racing Club had a couple of runners on Tuesday and both ran very well finishing second. Recent Plumpton scorer Cornicello stayed on well in the concluding handicap hurdle at Hereford only finding Maxcel too good. Jamie Snowden's gelding looks ready for a step up in trip, while Howth finished strongly in the ten furlongs handicap at Chelmsford later the same day. The former Aidan O'Brien trained three year old was only having his second start for the syndicate and Mick Appleby and he stepped up markedly on his last run by chasing home the useful Chichester. Denied by half a length, he was arguably unlucky meeting trouble in running in the homestraight. Jockey Rossa Ryan was complimentary afterwards and the members will have plenty of fun with the son of Churchill in the future. Racing manager James Couldwell bought a couple of new horses at the Newmarket Horses in Training Sale last month - get in touch via the website if you wish to get involved.
