There were two more winners for the Significant Sales feature in Ahead On The Flat (pages 120 - 122) at Newmarket on Saturday. Aim of Artemis (11/10) was having her first run for Godolphin and John Gosden since being acquired for 1,000,000gns last December. A winner last year for Ballymacoll Stud and Sir Michael Stoute, she defied a penalty to win the seven furlongs fillies' novice stakes by a length. Her new trainer feels she will be seen to even better effect over further, which means the Sandringham Handicap (0-105) over a mile at Royal Ascot (22nd June) could come under consideration depending on her official rating.
Gunmetal (9/2), who was bought out of Charlie Hills' stable for 47,000gns last Autumn, made it two out of two since joining David Barron. The gelded son of Clodovil had scored at Thirsk last month and was raised five pounds as a result. However, that wasn't enough to prevent him from following up under Ben Curtis. A half length winner, the five year old holds an entry in the Wokingham Handicap on the final day of Royal Ascot later this month. He is proving a shrewd acquistion by his astute handler.
I am working at Pontefract on Monday evening and will therefore update the Diary later next week. Just a reminder, the Royal Ascot Update will be sent out next Sunday evening - 17th June. Please head to the Publications section of the site if you haven't already ordered your copy.
