I spent most of Friday morning at my printers in Penrith - before the Tour of Britain headed through the town centre - adding the final touches to the new edition of One Jump Ahead. The book is complete (196 pages) with the final job adding page numbers having seen a final proof. I am very pleased with the outcome - there are some tremendous contributions from my usual aids, namely Rich Ricci, Anthony Bromley, Declan Phelan, James Reveley, plus a host of other people who have been brilliant in supplying me with the most up to date information.
In all likelihood, OJA will be published at the start of the week beginning Monday 20th September, which is a few days ahead of last year and in time before the action starts to warm up in October - clients aren't missing anything at the moment. If there is any change to the date, I will keep everyone informed on here.
Thank you once again to all those who already purchased a copy, plus the Updates, the response has been superb. Please head to the Publications section of the site, if you haven't already done so.
The dozen trainers I interviewed have been extremely generous with their time. Champion Paul Nicholls ran through over a hundred horses from his formidable team for the winter ahead. With the Racing Post increasingly cutting back with their coverage re stable tours, clients will be hard pressed to find a more comprehensive rundown of Team Ditcheat. Paul's former assistant Dan Skelton doesn't feature in the Talking Trainers section but I have spoken to him and ran through his main players, including a very strong looking team of juvenile hurdlers recruited from France. Earlier this month, I also chatted to former champion jockey Brian Hughes about some of the youngsters he is particularly looking forward to riding this term.
