Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers feature in One Jump Ahead highlighted Mossy Fen (4/1) as a horse to follow this season and the Milan gelding made a winning start to his Rules career at Worcester on Thursday. Successful in his second Irish point in April when handled by Donnchadh Doyle, the four year old was purchased for £60,000 soon afterwards before joining Nigel Twiston-Davies. Tackling two mile seven at the Midlands track, she travelled strongly throughout and only had to be pushed out after the final flight to win hard held by five lengths. On this evidence, Mossy Fen looks a strong stayer who looks capable of defying a penalty.
The York Ebor Update continues to churm out the winners with the Aidan O'Brien trained juvenile pair, Peaceful (8/11) and Louisiana (4/5), scoring in the opening two races at Thurles. The former, in particular, looks a filly with a bright future having powered clear to win by seven lengths. Only ninth on her debut, the daughter of Galileo confirmed the promise of her debut run at Leopardstown by streaking clear under Donnacha O'Brien.
