Brian The Snail (6/5) provided the Top 40 Prospects in Ahead On The Flat with its first winner from its first runner when extending his unbeaten record to three at Pontefract. Twice a winner last term, the Zebedee colt was given an official rating of 95, as a result, and defied such a mark on his handicap debut this afternoon. Bought by Godolphin during the winter, he was partnered by William Buick and was tackling six furlongs for the first time. Drawn in stall one, he sat in behind the leaders before being pulled out with two furlongs to run. Once sent about his business, Richard Fahey's charge readily settled the issue to win by a length and three quarters. The Malton trainer was interviewed afterwards and indicated the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot is the main target. In the meantime, he may contest the Pavilion Stakes over the same course and distance (3rd May). Godolphin appear to have a strong hand for the Group 1 event in June because Blue Point and Dreamfield have also been touted as likely candidates for the six furlongs race. Either way, R.A.Fahey has another exciting sprint prospect on his hands.
