Ahead On The Flat produced a couple of winners at Chelmsford on Thursday afternoon. Derevo, who is featured in the Maidens In Waiting section (page 112), was heavily supported prior to the ten furlongs novice stakes and the son of Dansili didn't let his supporters down with a length and a quarter victory under Ryan Moore. He will appreciate a stronger early gallop in future but the Sir Michael Stoute trained colt looks to have a bright future. The further he went, the better he looked at the Essex track.
Bye Bye Hong Kong (7/2) won the feature event, the conditions stakes over a mile for Andrew Balding. Rated 107, the son of Street Sense had finished second in Group 3 company as a juvenile and his trainer had commented in AOTF how he had progressed physically during the winter. Leading inside the final furlong, he stayed on strongly under Silvestre De Sousa to beat the Aidan O'Brien trained Antilles by a neck with Dark Vision back in third.
I will back to update the Diary once I have returned from Ayr. Enjoy the weekend.
