I suspect Roach Power almost certainly found the ground too quick at York on Saturday with Jimmy Sullivan pushing his mount along from an early stage in the six furlongs three year old sprint. Hopefully he will bounce back on a slower surface.
The Top 40 Prospects were amongst the winners though with Vee Sight (9/4) winning on his handicap debut at Sandown. Withdrawn from an engagement at Pontefract on Monday evening, Ralph Beckett felt the three year old was well handicapped when we spoke during the winter and it looked very much the case with the half-brother to Group 1 stayer Scope coming from last to first to win the nine furlongs handicap. The Churchill gelding wasn't the quickest away and found himself in rear from the outset but Silvestre De Sousa took his time and he gradually got into contention before pulling away inside the final furlong. It will be a surprise if this is Vee Sight's last victory because he is the sort to stay ahead of the handicapper as he climbs in trip.
Just a reminder to say the Royal Ascot Update will be emailed to clients on Sunday evening. There is still time to order a copy, please go to the Publications section of the site. The Update is £10 or £19 for all three.
