It was a good weekend for the Top 40 Prospects in Ahead On the Flat. Twenty four hours after Naqeeb (5/2) won a valuable staying handicap at Haydock on Saturday, stablemate Florida (7/1) showed what he is capable of when taking another decent prize at York on Sunday. The gelded son of No Nay Never had shaped encouragingly at Kempton last month and built on that performance in the one mile handicap on the Knavesmire. Ridden by Cieren Fallon, the Michael Buckley owned runner committed for home some way out and battled on gamely to fend off the persistent challenge of Theme Park to gain a neck win.
News broke on Monday morning that Amo Racing had parted company with Kevin Stott. Despite their success together this summer, it doesn't come as a huge shock. Good luck to whoever takes over the role.
