As stated over the weekend, Ahead On The Flat was published on Friday and all orders received before lunchtime on Tuesday (12th April) have been sent out to clients. Those received since will be posted on Wednesday morning. Thank you very much to those customers who have ordered, the response has been excellent and much appreciated.
The Talking Trainers section made a splendid start on the opening day of Newmarket's Craven meeting on Tuesday with three winners, namely Gale Force Maya (11/2), Cachet (15/8) and Educator (11/4).
Cachet provided George Boughey with more Group race glory in the Nell Gwyn Stakes and booked her place in the 1000 Guineas at the start of next month. The daughter of Aclaim was kept busy as a juvenile winning on her debut before being placed in the Group 1 Fillies' Mile and fourth at the Breeders' Cup on her final outing. A decisive winner on her return to action on the Rowley Mile, she becomes a valuable proposition now with a Group 3 victory on her CV. Time will tell whether she proves as effective over a mile but she has earned her place in the first fillies' Classic and I am sure she won't disgrace herself.
The ten furlongs handicap for three year olds has been contested by some subsequent Group performers including Bronze Cannon and Doctor Fremantle (2008), Wigmore Hall (2010), Main Sequence (2012), Old Persian (2018) and Mohaafeth (2021). There was a thrilling finish to the 2022 renewal with the Queen's Educator edging out High Fibre. The pair look above average and are interesting propositions for the remainder of the campaign. William Haggas has the ten furlongs handicap at Epsom on Derby day on the winner's agenda, while the runner-up will be even better over further.
