Only a matter of days after Hell Red's impressive UK debut at Chepstow, the French Revolution section in One Jump Ahead unearthed another exciting prospect in Ireland on Tuesday. Quilixios had won by a dozen lengths on his debut at Compiegne in March when trained by Francois Nicolle before being snapped up by Cheveley Park Stud. Withdrawn from an engagement at Gowran Park at the start of the month, Gordon Elliott's new recruit made it two out of two over hurdles with a smooth thirteen lengths win at Punchestown. Partnered by Denis O'Regan, who was deputising for the sidelined Davy Russell, he looked inexperienced early on and jumped very well and only had to be nudged clear to win with any amount in hand. His trainer suggested a trip to either Down Royal or Wetherby - both on Friday 31st October - will be next for the Maxios gelding. The Newmarket based stud have another fine jumping prospect on their hands.
The Talking Trainers section continues to churm out the winners with Jonjo O'Neill's Prince Escalus belying his huge odds of 33/1 in the opening two miles novices' hurdle at Huntingdon. A winning Irish pointer for Colin Bowe, the Jeremy gelding finished ninth on his British debut in a bumper in January when racing too freely. Making all on his hurdles bow, he ran on well to win by six and a half lengths.
