I was bitterly disappointed with the only runner in the Top 40 Prospects on Thursday. Having held every chance after the third last, he lacked a change of gear and faded tamely. He must be better than that and I wonder if he was suffering with a physical issue.
It was a much better afternoon for the Talking Trainers section in One Jump Ahead with half a dozen winners. Anthony Honeyball stole the headlines with a treble - two of which were included in his stable interview - at Fontwell. The Dorset based handler has sent out 16 winners this term.
Olly Murphy's stable are also in good form at present with 4 winners this week. Allavina had shaped well when finishing fourth in a Listed mares' bumper at Cheltenham in November before chasing home the useful Martello Sky on her hurdles debut at Fakenham last month. The daughter of Getaway built on that performance to win by a length from another Honeyball trained runner Belle De Manech in the mares' novice hurdle over two miles one. She could be an interesting proposition for the mares' final at Newbury in the spring (27th March), especially as she will be suited by a step up in trip.
