Logician, who is featured in the Unraced Three Year Olds section of Ahead On The Flat, made it five out of five and provided John Gosden with his fifth win in the St Leger at Doncaster. The grey son of Frankel has progressed through the ranks winning his maiden and novice stakes at Newbury and Newmarket respectively, before making light work of opening handicap mark of 90 at the former venue in early July. He then tackled Group company for the first time at York last month when beating Constantinople by a length and three quarters in the Great Voltigeur Stakes. Stepping up to a mile and six at Town Moor, he proved far too strong for Mark Johnston's pair Sir Ron Priestley and Nayef Road. It was a tremendous result for Ahead On The Flat and don't say you weren't warned.... in May.
Below is what appeared in the Diary on the 18th May....
On the same card, Logician (3/1) made a winning start to his career when taking the ten furlongs maiden by two lengths. Featured in the Unraced Three Year Olds section of Ahead On The Flat, the Derby entry was well supported beforehand and travelled strongly throughout under Kieran O'Neill. The son of Frankel stayed on strongly inside the final furlong to win going away and promises to be even better over a mile and a half. It is early days, but he looks a stronger stayer and it is not beyond the realms of possibility he could develop into a St Leger contender. A powerful looking grey, he is looks another smart three year old trained by John Gosden.
