Huge Future, featured in the Unraced Three Year Olds section of Ahead On The Flat, scored in good style on his handicap debut at Newbury last evening. The Godolphin owned colt won his maiden at the second attempt at Newcastle this month and he didn’t look overburdened off a mark of 85. The testing conditions was an unknown but the son of Shamardal coped with it well and wasn’t hard pressed to win comfortably. He is a useful prospect who could be competing at a higher level later this summer.
Talking of Godolphin, they were due to unleash a well regarded juvenile, Bouquet De Flores, at Newmarket this evening. A daughter of Street Cry, she had been pleasing in her work and was expected to go close in the six furlongs novice fillies’ stakes. However, soft ground ruled her out. Keep an eye out for when she does make her debut.
Sainted, who is highlighted as a horse to follow in the Handicap Snips feature of AOTF, improved for her seasonal pipeopener at Leicester by winning readily under Ryan Moore at Newmarket tonight. Too fresh and keen last time, she was positioned towards the rear by the former champion jockey during the early stages but only had to be pushed out to win going away. Clearly suited by easy conditions, she was providing her trainer William Haggas with an across the card treble and it will be a surprise if the Dutch Art filly can’t win more races.
Sir Michael Stoute has a decent team of middle distance three year old fillies, namely Abingdon and Queen’s Trust. The twice raced Ruscombe can be added to the list even though she only won her maiden at Doncaster this afternoon by a nose. A beautifully bred filly by Dansili and from the family of St Leger winner Brian Boru and Sea Moon, she finished a promising third on her debut at Leicester last month. Heavily supported at Town Moor, she led close home and, while she only won by the narrowest of margins, she will be suited by a step up to a mile and a half. Indeed, she held an entry in the Queens Vase over two miles at Royal Ascot last week. She is very much a filly to follow.
