As discussed, I am working on One Jump Ahead at the moment and on Sunday morning I interviewed Alan King. The head of Barbury Castle also passed on news of some of his Flat horses, which I will include in the York Ebor Update. As far as his jumpers are concerned, Alan appears to have recruited well from both the Irish pointing field and France. Traditionally, the stable are strong in the juvenile hurdle department and that trend looks set to continue this winter.
This morning I spoke to Colin Tizzard and went through his array of stars whilst he was stop at the top of his Dorset gallop. Blessed with some fantastic chasers, he gave an up to date report on the likes of Cue Card, Fox Norton, Native River and Thistlecrack etc. The stable have also been bolstered by some expensive new purchases from Ireland. The list of Talking Trainers therefore includes Brian Ellison, Harry Fry, Philip Hobbs, Alan King, Tom Lacey, Ben Pauling and Colin Tizzard. I am currently finalising days/times with four other leading trainers to complete this season's list.
I also contacted Graham Wylie last night and he kindly sent me the name of three potentially exciting horses for bumpers who will be sporting his famous brown and beige silks this winter. Declan Phelan's list of Irish Pointers has nearly been complete and I will shortly be receiving Anthony Bromley's article re his new recruits, namely Bromley's Best Buys.
