One of the most popular sections in One Jump Ahead is the Talking Trainers feature which includes a dozen of the leading yards in the UK this year. Top of the pile is the multiple champion trainer Paul Nicholls - there are 106 horses covered from Team Ditcheat, including a host of exciting new recruits from Ireland and France.
Talking of France, as discussed, the French Revolution section has unearthed some future stars in recent seasons, including the ill-fated Champion Hurdle winner Espoir D'Allen and other Cheltenham Festival winners Defi Du Seuil and Klassical Dream. There 31 horses covered in this year's section (none of which have run in either Ireland or the UK yet), 11 of which have joined Willie Mullins. It will be a surprise if there isn't at least one Festival winners amongst the new crop. Former French champion jockey James Reveley has added his expert opinion to the majority of the horses included.
Leading bloodstock agent Anthony Bromley has contributed his Bromley's Best Buys for the twentieth consecutive year - the Newmarket based agent has bought household names Big Buck's, Kauto Star and Master Minded amongst others and they all featured in my publications before they had made their British debuts. Expect more of the same from Anthony's latest article. By the way, Anthony's horse to follow in last year's edition was The Glancing Queen (16/1 & 5/1). The former pointer won Listed and Grade 2 bumpers last season for Alan King.
As regards the Top 40 Prospects, the feature has shown a level stakes PROFIT for the last two seasons, including the 2018/2019 campaign with 36 winners at a strike-rate of 31% and PROFIT of £262.30 (£10 stake). JERRYSBACK (50/1) provided the highlight, while there were 5 individual Grade 1 winners, namely COMMANDER OF FLEET (13/2), ENVOI ALLEN (2/1), IF THE CAP FITS (7/1), KALASHNIKOV (4/1) and TOPOFTHEGAME (4/1).
Ante-Post betting isn’t everyones cup of tea but the likes of Envoi Allen (33/1) and Vautour (40/1) have certainly done me a couple of good turns in recent years, plus Min (50/1) was unlucky to bump into a certain Altior in the Skybet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle in 2016. I suggest readers have a look at the some of the new recruits from France and Ireland which are featured in the Top 40 Prospects. There is some value to be found, in terms of next spring’s Cheltenham Festival. I have already backed a couple for the Supreme and Triumph Hurdles which are featured in this year's Top 40.
One Jump Ahead is 198 pages - 26 more than last year - and is priced at £10.99 (including postage).
Changing codes, I am currently working on the Autumn Update, which will be emailed to clients on Thursday 26th September, in time for Newmarket's meeting on the Saturday, which features the Royal Lodge, Cheveley Park, Middle Park and Cambridgeshire. Don't forget last year's Autumn Update advised Wissahickon at 12/1 for the last named contest. The Update also highlighted the third and fourth in the second leg of the Autumn double, the Cesarewitch. I will also be previewing the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp and other major races between now and the end of the season.
The York Ebor Update proved successful with 8 winners, including Hamish (advised @ 16/1 in the Melrose Stakes). If you haven't already ordered either One Jump Ahead or the Autumn Update, please head to the Publications section of the site.
