Thank you very much to all those clients who sent messages following Ravenhill Road's easy win at Market Rasen yesterday - I have spent this afternoon replying to all of them. Brian Ellison's former Irish pointer was advised at 3/1 on Friday evening as part of the Email Service. The five year old didn't let us down either with a most impressive fourteen lengths victory. Making virtually all, he steadily pulled clear turning for home and, despite showing signs of greenness and edging to his left late on, Kaine Wood's mount won with any amount in hand. Held in the highest regard by his astute handler, he looks a smashing prospect. With a 100% record in October, the Email Service has made a tremendous start. If anyone would like to get involved during November and December, please click on the tab at the top of the page for more details.
Having been away for most of yesterday, I am still catching up on replays of Saturday's action. However, it was good to see Philip Hobbs send out a treble at Ffos Las, including Garde La Victoire's in the rescheduled Welsh Champion Hurdle. His victory continued the fantastic run of winners for Diane and Grahame Whateley. Defi Du Seuil, who is featured in One Jump Ahead, was an easy winner on his British debut at Ffos Las and it will be interesting to see how far he can progress as a juvenile hurdler this winter. Owned by J.P.McManus, the ex-French gelding barely came out of a canter at the Welsh track.
Two horses who impressed this afternoon included Morgan (2/1), who won the concluding bumper at Cork. Featured in Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers in OJA, the four year old raced twice for Pat Doyle last season before joining Gordon Elliott in the summer. Stepping up to two miles three, he ran on strongly to beat the previously unbeaten Bargy Lady by two and a quarter lengths. A relation of Johns Spirit and The Game Changer, he will come into his own over fences but ought to develop into a useful staying novice hurdler this winter in the meantime.
Switching codes, it was good to see Intimation finally show what she is capable of in the Listed EBF Garnet Stakes at Naas. Dropping back to a mile having run well in Pattern company over further last time, Sir Michael Stoute's filly cruised into contention before being pushed out by Colin Keane to win by four lengths. Ease in the ground is seemingly important to her - it is just a pity she has taken so long this season to come good. Hopefully some subscribers will have stayed loyal and backed her. Her talent has never been in doubt.
