Top 40 Prospects - 3 from 3 - UAE Jewel, Skardu, Clerisy

The Top 40 Prospects in Ahead On The Flat may not have shone at Newbury last weekend but they hit form with a vengeance on the second day of the Craven meeting at Newmarket with UAE Jewel (10/11), Skardu (3/1) and Clerisy (8/1) all winning. The trio looked potentially high-class three year olds in the making. Roger Varian spoke very favourably about the first named and, despite racing over a trip which is likely to be shy of his optimum, he trounced eleven opponents by upwards of five lengths in the Wood Ditton Stakes over a mile. He looks a terrific prospect, while Skardu justified strong support to come from last to first in the Group 3 Craven Stakes. The 2000 Guineas at the start of May is his next target and I am sure he won't disgrace himself.
