During the last twenty four hours I have interviewed rookie trainer Olly Murphy for One Jump Ahead and Grand National winning trainer David Pipe. The former only took out a licence a few months ago and has made a terrific start to his new career. However, it shouldn't come as a surprise because the 25 year old has spent the last few years as assistant to Gordon Elliott in Ireland. Adding to his string all the time, Olly already has around 30 horses in training and on the look out for more. He has already attracted patrons such as Diana and Graham Whateley and Terry Warner and with the assistance of his father and bloodstock agent Aiden Murphy, he looks set for a big future.
Just a reminder, the York Update will be emailed to clients next Monday evening (21st August). There is still time to order a copy - the Update is £6.00 and can be purchased via the Publications section of the site. There were a couple of really eyecatching performances from juveniles today which I intend highlighting in the Update.
I am looking forward to York's Ebor Festival because it is my favourite Flat meeting of the year but having interviewed some of the country's top jump trainers in recent weeks and received both Anthony Bromley's and Declan Phelan's horses to follow for the winter, the National Hunt season can't come quick enough.
