Congratulations to Value Racing Club who recorded another winner courtesy of Cornicello (9/4) in the two miles handicap hurdle at Plumpton on Monday. It was a fair performance by a four year old to shoulder 12st 1lb with the ex-French gelding leading on the run-in under an excellent ride by Johnny Burke. A dual winner on the Flat in his native country, the son of Penny's Picnic has been running consistently without getting his head in front. Value Racing Club's jumpers have been in excellent form with 9 winners already this season and the syndicate currently sit in third position in the owner's championship which is a tremendous achievement.

As part of my role as Ambassador for the syndicate, I assist racing manager James Couldwell looking at perspective horses and have spent Monday looking through the catelogue for the forthcoming Newmarket Horses in Training Sale which takes place next week. Having reseached the first 300 lots, I have a shortlist of 15 horses which may be worth considering. There are 1551 lots in total so there is plenty of work still to do. If you would like to get involved in Value Racing Club, please don't hesitate having a look at their website and contacting James - he is a first class operator who won't let you down.

It was a low key card at the Sussex venue but the Talking Trainer's section in One Jump Ahead was amongst the winners once again. Local handler Gary Moore commented on page 93 re Mark of Gold: "I think he will develop into a nice handicap hurdler because he is a smart horse." The gelded son of Golden Horn was duly supported from 4/1 into 2/1 before staying on strongly to win the two miles handicap hurdle by two and a half lengths off a mark of 120. The five year old's jumping was slick throughout and could be called the winner some way from home. It wouldn't be a surprise if Moore elects to enter Mark of Gold in the Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham (13th November).
