I have sent out a message to Email Service clients this evening (7.26pm). If anyone hasn't received it, please let me know.
Finian's Oscar made it two out of two over fences with a very impressive performance in the two and a half miles novice chase at Cheltenham. Colin Tizzard's gelding showed a fine turn of foot after the final fence to quicken past Movewiththetimes conceding eight pounds to Paul Nicholls' Betfair Hurdle runner-up. A two and a quarter lengths winner, the former Irish pointer will stay further if necessary but there seems no reason to change things at present. The JLT Novices' Chase in March looks ideal. From a personal point of view, I would be prefer to see Robbie Power renew his partnership with the five year old. Bryan Cooper was outridden on the approach to the second last by Barry Geraghty but his mount had too many guns for the runner-up after the last. Either way, Finian's Oscar is a horse with a big future over fences.
On The Blind Side (9/2) maintained his unbeaten record and made it two out of two over timber since joining Nicky Henderson. Featured in Bromley's Best Buys and Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers in OJA, the five year old outstayed his rivals in the Grade 2 novices' hurdle which concluded the card at Prestbury Park. Staying on strongly after the last, he beat the mare Momella by two and a half lengths. On this evidence, the Albert Bartlett NH is likely to be the Stowaway gelding's spring target because he looks a stout stayer. I suspect he would get taken off his feet over two and a half miles against top notchers.
