Following an inauspicious start, the November Update had a much better day with Rock The Kasbah (advised @ 10/1) and First Assignment (advised @ 11/4) winning at Cheltenham, while Beakstown (5/4) justified strong market support on his hurdles debut at Uttoxeter. It could have been an even better day had Rather Be stood up in the BetVictor Gold Cup. Unfortunately, Willie Boy fell at the fourth last and Jerry McGrath's mount had nowhere to go and came down. It was a long way from home but Nicky Henderson's gelding was travelling as well as anything.
Chief allies 'Ant & Dec' were at it again. Anthony Bromley's horse to follow in his Bromley's Best Buys article (pages 115 - 120) in One Jump Ahead is The Glancing Queen (16/1) and she won the Listed mares' bumper which rounded off Cheltenham's card on her Rules debut. The daughter of Jeremy, who was purchased for £80,000, travelled strongly and picked up well under Wayne Hutchinson to win going away by a length and a quarter.
Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers section included the aforementioned Beakstown (5/4) and Umbrigado (9/2), who looked a smart prospect himself when running away with the bumper at Uttoxeter. David Pipe paid £160,000 for the Stowaway gelding after he had finished runner-up in his only point. He looks a fine addition to the Pond House team.
