Impose Toi landed a gamble in the finale on the opening day of the Paddy Power Festival at Cheltenham on Friday. The five year old was making his handicap debut and appeared to have been let in lightly off an opening mark of 121 and so it proved. Given a confident ride by Nico De Boinville in the two miles novices' handicap hurdle, the ex-French was always moving strongly and, despite being slightly blinded at the second last by the front running Caithness, he soon came back on the bridle. Pushed to the front on the run-in, he was full value for his two and a quarter lengths win. Only a novice until the end of the month, the It's Gino gelding stays further and looks set for a productive campaign. Featured in the Top 40 Prospects of One Jump Ahead last season, it was a case of job done today. His victory ensured the November Update got off to an excellent start - one selection and one winner advised at 11/4.
