Following a disappointing day on Thursday, the Email Service was back amongst the winners with Claimantakinforgan (11/4) collecting the bumper at Haydock. Featured in the Top 40 Prospects, he had been the subject of a strong word throughout the week and the former Irish pointer didn't disappoint. While the testing conditions may not have played to his strengths, Nicky Henderson's gelding still proved too strong for his ten opponents. He looks a smashing long-term prospect and very much one to follow. Many thanks to those clients who have emailed since - I will response to all of them this evening. The Email Service has told me a lot about my clients - 99.9% of them are tremendously loyal and your support is much appreciated.
Cloudy Dream made it two out of two over fences with another silky smooth success in the two mile Graduation Chase at Merseyside track. The grey is a natural jumper and he always appeared to be toying with his rivals. Receiving weight, he skipped clear after the second last and won hard held by a dozen lengths. Malcolm Jefferson suggested afterwards that he could head to Kempton on the 27th December for the Wayward Lad Novices' Chase - that will give us a fair idea as to whether he is a realistic Arkle Trophy contender. At the moment, he looks a high-class recruit to fences.
Paul Nicholls and John Hales have another exciting horse on their hands in the shape of Politologue who annihilated his four rivals in the two and a half miles novice chase on the same card. The French gelding had disappointed in the Coral Cup last spring but he looks an improved horse this season and can take high rank this winter. An excellent jumper, Anthony Bromley told us in last year's edition of One Jump Ahead that the grey was a smart horse in the making and he wasn't lying. His owner and trainer were hoping Aux Ptits Soins would be their number one novice chaser for this season but it looks as though his stablemate may be taking that mantle, if today's win is anything to go by. The pair will presumably be kept apart if they both arrive at Prestbury Park in March.
Weather permitting, I am working at Haydock Park tomorrow and it promises to be a terrific day with the Betfair Chase and Fixed brush handicap hurdle the feature events. I will be back to update the Diary at some stage on Sunday. Have a good weekend and raise a glass to the unpronounceable Claimantakinforgan in the meantime.
