Rathhill (7/2) made a very good start to his career under Rules by winning the two miles maiden hurdle at Newbury on Wednesday. Featured on page 144 of OJA and one of Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers, he had finished runner-up on his only start for Wilson Dennison last term. Bought by J.P.McManus and sent to Nicky Henderson, the five year old was given a confident ride by Barry Geraghty before showing a good turn of foot on the run-in. The winning margin of a length and a half flattered the runner-up. The gelded son of Getaway looks a horse with a big future.
Even though the two runners in the Top 40 Prospects failed to get their head in front they both showed plenty of promise and it won't be long before they make a contribution. It was a good day overall for OJA though with 6 winners in total. Our Power (2/1), Rathhill (7/2), Chosen Path (9/2), Tidal Flow (7/1), Sir Egbert (6/4) and Oakley (11/10) all won.
I am still working on the Christmas Special and the plan is to email the Update to clients on Sunday pm. Irish expert Declan Phelan is sending me his piece on Saturday while I am working at Haydock Park for Racing TV. Bloodstock agent Anthony Bromley let me know the horse he is most looking forward to seeing run over the Festive period, which I will include in the Update.
