Glittering Love (9/5) was suggested as a horse to follow in the November Update and Nicky Richards' four times point winner made a successful start to his career over fences under Rules at Hexham on Thursday. Racing off a mark of 92, he was sent off second favourite behind previous course winner Well Above Par in the opening two and a half miles novices' handicap chase. Ridden by Brian Hughes, the Winged Love gelding looked in trouble after the second last fence before his stamina kicked in on the run-in. In receipt of a stone, he stayed on strongly to reel in Lucinda Russell's charge to win going away by nearly three lengths. While he's no star, I will be surprised if he can't win more races, especially when stepped up to three miles. His stable continue in fine form.
The French Revolution section in OJA (pages 124 - 130) produced two winners at Naas on Tuesday and the same section unearthed two more winners at Exeter on Thursday. Evidence De Thaix (5/4) and Dalila Du Seuil (6/4) looked a pair of promising mares owned by J.P.McManus. The former jumped much better than she had done on her UK debut at Lingfield by taking the opening mares' novices' hurdle under Barry Geraghty, while the latter produced a fine round of fencing in the mares' chase before beating Kalahari Queen by four and a half lengths. Rated 149 over hurdles when trained in France, she looks a good addition to Harry Fry's stable.
Don't forget the Christmas Special will be emailed to clients on Sunday pm. There is still plenty of time to order a copy, if you haven't already done so.
In the meantime, look out for the horse featured at the bottom of page 84 of OJA. I will be disappointed if he doesn't win on Friday.
