Famous Bridge recorded his second win in fifteen days at Wetherby when taking the three miles handicap chase on Tuesday. Nicky Richards' gelding is improving with each start over fences and appreciated the step up in trip here. Racing off a three pounds higher mark compared to his victory over two miles five earlier this month, his jumping was very good and Sean Quinlan looked happy throughout. Leading before the fourth last, he stayed on well to beat Lord of Kerak by a length and a half with 24 lengths back to the third First Lord De Cuet who had run well in the Grand National Trial at Haydock on his previous start. One would imagine that the winner will head to Ayr for £50,000 three miles novices' handicap chase on Scottish National day (22nd April). Longer-term, he can win a decent staying handicap chase. The Greystoke team continue in tremendous form with 8 winners from their last 16 runners. Famous Bridge was providing the Top 40 Prospects in One Jump Ahead with its 39th winner of the season - 26 of the 40 horses have won at least once this term.
Work continues on the forthcoming edition of Ahead On The Flat - on Tuesday, the Unraced Three Year Olds section was completed. It features nearly 30 well regarded three year olds who will be making their racecourse debuts this spring/summer. Regular readers will be aware that there is a detailed section on Sir Michael Stoute's yard with news from Freemason Lodge, which was gained while I was visiting Newmarket last month. My contact in the yard has proved very accurate over the years and he has forwarded some excellent information once again, including news on the stable's Classic contenders. There is also news on last year's Epsom Derby winner Desert Crown.
Thank you very much to all those clients who have ordered their copy of Ahead On The Flat and the Updates - the response has been superb. Don't forget, AOTF is the only publication which will feature stable interviews with Charlie Appleby and William Haggas, the top two in last year's trainer's title. Please head to the Publications section of the site to order your copy, if you haven't already done so.
