Philip Hobbs trained 70 winners last season and I am delighted to include the Minehead handler once again in the Talking Trainers section of One Jump Ahead. Speaking to Philip on Thursday morning, he passed on news regarding his Grade 1 winners Sporting John and Thyme Hill, plus a host of youngsters. The latter category includes some exciting recruits from France, including an unbeaten juvenile hurdler who cost a hefty sum.
Switching codes, Point King made it two wins from as many starts this year following up his victory at Fairyhouse last month when taking a conditions event at Leopardstown on Thursday evening. Featured in the Maidens In Waiting section of AOTF, the son of Zoffany stayed on well to beat the 95 rated Waterville by half a length. Stamina looks Joseph O'Brien's colt's strong suit and he will have no trouble getting further. It is not difficult to see him developing into a smart four year old and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him competing in Australia one day for his owner Lloyd Williams.
