Despite the fact there is less than a week of the British National Hunt season remaining, One Jump Ahead and the Updates continue to produce winners. Honeysuckle (6/4) and French Made (6/1) are featured in the Irish Pointers and French Revolution sections of OJA and the pair won at Grade 1 and 2 level at Fairyhouse's Easter Festival. The former was forced to miss the Cheltenham Festival but Henry De Bromhead's mare bounced back with an emphatic success on Sunday. The daughter of Sulamani galloped her rivals into submission scoring by five and a half lengths maintaining her unbeaten record in the process. She is a very smart mare and it will be interesting to see whether she remains over hurdles next term or goes chasing. I suspect it will be the former but she ought to make a terrific chaser given the fact she beat subsequent Mares' final winner Annie Mc by fifteen lengths in her sole point-to-point when handled by Jerry Cosgrave.
Another mare, namely Sopat (4/1), was highlighted as a horse to follow in the February Update and the daughter of Gold Well was an easy winner of the bumper at Fakenham on Easter Monday. A thirty lengths winner of an Irish point for Kieran Roche in December, the six year old was subsequently bought by Phil Middleton for £62,000 in January. Sixth on her Rules debut at Fontwell last month, she improved on that performance to make all at the East Anglian track before winning by four and a half lengths.
